This Gujarati Documentary film set in Ahmedabad city and showcases Ahmedabad’s passion for Kite flying. An 11-year-old boy regularly bunks his school just to fly kites with his buddies during Uttarayan. Uttarayan is the biggest kite flying festival in Gujarat and India.
Director Hardik Mehta worked as assistant with Vikramaditya Motwane in Lootera film. While he also worked with Vikas Bahl in Queen as a script supervisor. Director Hardik Mehta who is from Vadodara, shot Amdavad Ma Famous film in old Ahmedabad. He shot this film after he completion of Queen film.
Generally, Ahmedabad city people celebrate Uttarayan from 8 to 15 January every year. In 2014, Director shot this documentary film but he could not complete it. Then in next year he came again to finish the shooting in Ahmedabad.
Director Hardik Mehta talked about his documentary film idea. He said, “I saw a story there and called up Piyush. The very next morning he was there in Ahmedabad with his camera and sound equipment.”

Amdavad ma Famous Gujarati documentary film won the 63rd National Film Award for the Best Non-feature film. While this film also won several international awards. During Jio MAMI Mumbai Festival, director screened the film.
